Rojak

Rojak is about a half-deer, half-tiger girl is sent to the market for a missing ingredient, she must overcome her fears and insecurities in order to dare to be herself.”

A story where we focused on getting the love you deserve and also telling a story of being mixed (different cultures), not being fully included in the one or the other.

But we tell our story in a way that it is relatable by everybody. Everybody had a moment when they felt like Ayu (main character)

We tell this story so people know they are never alone and everything starts with a special moment. And to make it more special than it already is, we tell it through animal like characters.

So join me on this journey!

As Character Designer I got to work on Ayu's father and Bo, a character who Ayu meets in the story and who is also a mixed animal (being mixed red panda and serval). 

You can find some sketches around the place, where I find out what works and what does not. Going from late designs (finals almost) to the earliest of earliest from all stages. 

I would have loved to tell you more but this project is still going on and is not public yet, so stay tuned.

Lots of crazy stuff going on here, like designing background characters. A role I thought I was not capable of but here we are. With some great direction I created characters that felt grounded to Malaysia but still be their own thing. 

I work messy with phones and ideas everywhere but it works. I really enjoyed working on different type of animals and the challenges it brings with them.
